OK, really, the first days

So yeah, it’s a little weird not really having anything to do. We don’t have to get all the sights in before vacation’s over. So here’s some stuff from our first couple of days wandering aimlessly around...err, around aimlessly.

Home for a week
The hotel, Cofradia del Monje, is fantastic, particularly for $40 a night for this room, which includes breakfast for two of us. It’s in El Centro, which is a great, though very loud and hectic, place for our first week during “Fiesta”.

Inside "La Cofra"
People come from all over Ecuador for the trifecta of All Saints Day, All Souls Day, and Cuencan Independence Day. There’s music in the parks, indigenous dance performances in the plazas, food vendors everywhere, and fireworks all the time (all day, all night, heh...heh).
The view from our balcony.

Where everybody knows su nombre.
The local Jitterbug
Home of the Toquila a.k.a the Panama Hat
Flower Market
Street slalom!
Tree monkeys
